Spiritual Counsels of the Holy Fathers:

God’s Promises:  The reward of virtue will be God Himself, who gave the virtue and promised to give Himself; and there could be no greater or better gift. For when He said by the prophet I shall be their God, and they will be my people, He surely meant just this:  I shall be their satisfaction; I shall be everything that man can earnestly desire; life, health, food, abundance, glory, honor, peace, and all good things. This is the right nterpretation of the Apostles words, That God may be in all ( 1 Corinthians 15:28) He will be the end of our desires and we shall see Him without end, love Him for eternity, and praise Him without weariness. This promise, this gift, this activity, will be shared by all, just as eternal life will be the common condition for all.  ( St. Augustine of Hippo)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father remove from our hearts the lingering anxieties of this day. Grant that we may look forward and upward to You,and always remembering Your promises go forth with faith, hope, peace and confidence of Your unending mercy love and mercy.  Give us faith and strength O merciful Lord, prepare the path that we should walk upon, and although we do not walk on that path which You have given us O Lord, help us to find our way back to You and the peace that only You can give us which is beyond our wisdom.
