Readings- Isaiah 13:1-11, 2 Corinthians 7:4-16, Gospel-Mark 7:31-37
Eve of the Fast of the Cross

Today's Gospel reading from Mark is one of healing and redemption, and perhaps we may read the Gospel when we have a moment to really comprehend one of the greatest realities of our faith as followers of Jesus Christ, and that is without faith, hope, and love even our physical well being is of no value if we have illness of the spirit. St. Paul wrote that worse than our physical death is spiritual death, there is really nothing worse than death of the spirit, the latter leads us to become very self centered and worse yet apathetic and indifferent, it leads us to seek our peace and security from the world rather than from God.
This also leads us to treat our relationship with God as a mere passing convenience at best, imagine if God treated us His children with the very same apathy and indifference that we treat Him, do you think that Christ would have been crucified for the sake of our redemption, do we honestly believe that we can earn our way into Heaven and if that were the case then Christ died needlessly. We often speak of our need to be healed,
we speak of the need to be forgiven and redeemed, yet do we do as we should when it comes to our Christian Faith? The greatest healer of all our sicknesses is Jesus Christ, the Supreme Physician of heart and soul, and now many doctors are realizing the intense healing power of faith and prayer in full recovery and healing of those who are sick and suffering. There have been many instances of healing through faith and prayer, and not only should we be asking for healing but also to be redeemed and renewed in the spirit, to find our healing in the greatest medicine of them all and that is God's love, mercy, compassion and forgiveness, to have enough faith to believe that faith in God will indeed lead us to the most important healing which is that of the spirit.
As always the choice is yours to make!!!!!!

A Peaceful Sabbath to all.
