Mark 10:1-12
First Sunday after the Holy Cross

Recently I wrote about the mission of the Church in the quarterly publication of our parish known as the Aghavni and I have received many positive comments about the article and if nothing else it is my sincere hope that it has made us stop and think about who we are as Armenian Orthodox Christians and how we practice our faith as such.  Many times we fail to see or comprehend that the truest definition of the Church is not what it is but who it is and of course that is Jesus Christ.  Let's us not make any mistake about it Jesus Himself said:
The gates of hell shall not prevail against My Church, we know this to be an indisputable truth and in order for the Church to be faithful to its mission then it above all else must be faithful to Jesus Christ, who God gave to us to reveal Himself. Christ also proclaimed: Those who reject me reject the One who sent Me for my Father and I are one.
Dearly beloved if you profess to believe in God and are part of His Church then you also believe that when you give to your Church you are in essence giving back to God, you cannot separate the two from one another.  If you claim to be a person of faith then you believe that when you give back to God then you get back far more than you give.  This is the essence of our Christian Faith in that God has given so much to us that whatever ever we give back to God is very minimal in comparison to the many blessings that we have received. Remember as always the choice is yours to make.  May the Lord God grant you all a Blessed, Peaceful, & Joyful Sabbath Day. Amen.
