Readings- Isaiah 19:1-11, Galatians 2:1-10,
Gospel-Mark 12:35-44
St. Paul reminds us that it is indeed a good thing to remain faithful to those traditions that have been passed down to us over the centuries and one of those traditions is to remember those who came before us such as our saints and Church Fathers. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Translators ( Srpotz Tarkmanchatz Vartabedatz) those who gave us the language that all of us speak as Armenians, our Church Fathers saw the need for a written and spoken word to be able above all things to transmit the word of God to our people in a language of their own, so great was the faith and determination of these men, that the very first book that was translated into the Armenian Language was the Holy Bible which later became the Queen of all Biblical Translations throughout the world. The Armenian word for the Gospel is known as Asdvadzashounch or the breath of God, so one can imagine just how Holy and God inspired our Church Fathers were in their devotion to Jesus Christ and the preaching of the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Above all things today we celebrate the living testimony of those who came before us and bequeathed to us their faith and devotion to Jesus Christ and we really have to examine ourselves as the Apostle Paul writes to see if we really are as faithful as we should be to all that has been given to us as Armenian Orthodox Christians. It is not enough for us to proclaim ourselves as the first nation to accept our Christian Faith it is more important for us to be the best Christians.
As always the choice is yours to make! A Blessed & Peaceful Sabbath.
