Der Hayr's Weekly Message

Scripture Readings- Philipians 4:8-24-Gospel -Luke 11:1-13

Counsels of the Holy Fathers of the Church:
Look upon everything in this world as upon a fleeting shadow, and do not cling with your heart to anything; do not consider anything in this world as great, and do not lay your hopes upon anything earthly. Cling to the One imperishable invisible, most wise God. We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
( St. John of Kronstadt)

The means to confirm and strengthen Christian hope are prayer, especially frequent and sincere prayer, confession of our sins, frequent reading of the word of God, and above all, frequent communion of the holy and life giving Sacraments of Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.  If you indeed call God your father, then trust and hope in Him, as a Father most merciful, all powerful, most wise, ever loving, ever perfect.  Trust in Him in respect of the blessings of this temporal life, but above all in respect of future blessings which shall granted to you in Christ.  Help us Lord to live our lives in accordance with Your will and help us to truly accept and forgive others as You have loved and forgiven us.   Remember us O Lord when Thou comest in Thy Kingdom! Amen.
( St. John of Kronstradt)
