Hayr's Weekly Message
Our faith teaches us a rather simple reality and for some it is one that is rather difficult to accept and that is that we cannot have Christ without the Cross and really consider ourselves to be faithful followers of our Lord and this is not just a passing thought but it is what Jesus Christ Himself taught in the Gospel and it really was more of a challenge to those who sought to be His disciples when He said: You cannot love the world more than you love me and call yourselves my followers and in that same regard He said those who want to be my followers must PICK UP THEIR CROSS & FOLLOW ME!!!
During Great Lent you will observe that the Altar is veiled yet in front of the curtain is the Icon of the Crucified Christ and the reason for that is so that we will never lose sight of the fact that Christ died for our sins and we need to repent for them and above all things that we cannot have Christ without the reality of the Cross. The meaning of Great Lent is repentance.
Yes this time of the year is a journey and a time to seek that which our Lord came to proclaim to us, that we need to turn back to God and walk in the light rather than in the darkness.
Look into the eyes of the Lord and contemplate the sacrifice that our Lord & Savior made for us by dying on the Cross.
A Blessed Lenten Journey-May the Lord dwell in your hearts.
