Scripture Readings- James 5:16-20- Gospel- St. Luke 4:25-30
First Sunday after the Pentecost- Feast of the Prophet Elijah

Well it won't be too long before Summer sets in and we will have to make time to relax and be with our family and friends, we will be making time to vacation, to visit, to perhaps go to the beach and the like, but none the less we will make time for all of our Summer activities. Have you ever noticed that during the Summer months Church attendance is at a minimum to say the least, I am guessing that some of us think that God and the Church are on vacation for the Summer but of course we know better.  While all of us really need to learn the definition of the word relax, we should also realize that being a faithful Christian means that we practice each and everyday of the year; Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, while we can take a vacation for our physical and emotional well being our responsibilities as Christians is an ongoing process.

During the Summer please think about the fact that the Church will only be as strong as you want it to be, it needs your support during the Summer as well as the rest of the year. The Church can only depend on the charity and benevolence of its members to sustain itself financially and physically. Have a safe and relaxing Summer but always keep in mind that God is there for us always and the Church is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

As always the choice is yours to make; The Church belongs to each and everyone of us. Give back to God and you will receive tenfold.
