Counsels of the Church Fathers:

All of us each day in many different ways are under constraint to learn by experience, not to be held captive here on earth, yet despite this experience our minds remain down below.
Blessed is that person who has realized how worthwhile it is to lay provisions for receiving our Lord; blessed indeed is he at whose merchandise the Lord is pleased.
( St. Ephrem the Syrian)

All this and similar things that I have read in the Scriptures, have helped depict in my mind that garden of Life; blessed is the person who is worthy to attain its enjoyment.
May the Merciful One bring me to its fruits, may their taste give me life, or their scent strike me, or their radiance reach me, or their dew bathe me!
( St. Ephrem the Syrian)

As we continue our Lenten journey it is a good time to take a moment and reflect, pray and seek repentance for our sins. Ask yourself this question: Have I really made a sincere effort to be with the Lord in these days of prayer, fasting, and repentance?
