Scripture Readings- 2 Corinthians 1:1-11- Mark-4:35-41
Second Sunday after the Feast of the Assumption

Have you ever pondered in your mind why it seems that we do not always get what we ask for from God when we pray to Him, the question perhaps that we should ask ourselves is how sincere are we when we pray and what is it that we are praying for?  Are we praying for something that is pleasing to God or do we pray out of a sense of desire and self gratification? These are questions that only we can answer but they require far more self examination then we may want to subject ourselves to, and this takes us back to the inevitable reality that being a true Christian in the most definitive sense of the word takes a lot of work and genuine self sacrifice.
Remember that when you pray make certain that you do ask that God’s will be done and not your own and make an effort to recite the Our Father prayer at least twice a day to remind yourself that the only peace and happiness that we will have in life is when we finally realize that we seek God’s will for us and not our own.
