Hayr's Weekly Message
Perhaps the most important and central message of the Feast of the Resurrection is found in today’s Gospel reading from St. John in which Nicodemus asks of Christ what one must do to enter the Kingdom of God, and very plainly our Lord responds with the words: You must be reborn for if you are not reborn you cannot see the Kingdom of God.
Dearly beloved being reborn does not mean that we start following an evangelist that we watch on television or that we laud it over on others that we have become closer to God, no being reborn means that you have finally realized that in order to be a true Christian you have to honestly want to become a new person reborn of the spirit, you have to take off the old person and put on the new.
The greatest example of becoming renewed in the spirit is the reality of the Resurrection, we have gone from the darkness into the light, we passed through Great Lent, Holy Week and finally the Feast of all Feasts which is the empty tomb, the place where Christ was buried but became the very source of life once more so that you and I would be given life.
His Resurrection came with a price and that price was His life and His suffering on the Cross not for Himself but for our sins. We cannot have Christ without the Cross it is as simple as that this is the reality of our faith as Orthodox Christians.
Lets us proclaim:
