4th Sunday after the Resurrection

Scripture Readings-Acts 17:1-15, 1 John 1:1-10, John 7:14-23

Our Lord Jesus Christ preached to His followers that they when they learn to detach themselves from the material world then they would find it much easier to give of themselves and that generosity toward others would be the rule rather than the exception.
Where does it really all end and by that I mean this struggle with letting go of the worldly goods we cling to so dearly that we have fooled ourselves into thinking can ever bring us true peace and a sense of happiness and accomplishment in life, well they do not.
You will find in life that those who have the least are most at peace with themselves and those around them, they have learned as St. Paul wrote: I have learned in all circumstances to give thanks to God, whether I am hungry or full, rich or poor in all things I have learned to give thanks to God who sustains me. The Apostle wrote this letter to remind us that true joy does not come from receiving but rather from giving and once again St. Paul wrote: Each should give according to the desires of their hearts and not under duress for God loves a cheerful giver. So not only is it important to be generous and giving but to do so sincerely and that goes for everything that we do in life, we all need to think about how much love we put into what we do this especially when it comes to our faith and how we deal with other human beings more specifically those around us.
